英語簡歷并無固定不變的單一形式,應聘者完全可以根據(jù)個人的具體情況來確定采用何種形式,靈活設計。一般來說,根據(jù)個人經(jīng)歷的不同側重點,可以選用以下三種形式:
(1)以學歷為主的簡歷 basic resume
這種形式適應于應屆畢業(yè)生或中學畢業(yè)后仍在待業(yè)的求職人員,因為沒有工作經(jīng)歷,所以把重點放在學業(yè)上,從最高學歷往下寫。
在basic resume中,一般包括下列元素:
a. personal date(個人資料):name(姓名)、address(通訊地址)、postal code(郵政編碼)、phone number(電話號碼)、birthdate(出生日期)、birthplace(出生地點)、sex(性別)、height(身高)、weight(體重)、health(健康狀況)、date of availability(可到職日期)、number of identification card(身份證號碼)。因為是應屆畢業(yè)生或中學畢業(yè)不久,一般沒有結婚,因而可省略marital status(婚姻狀況)和children(兒女情況)兩項。當然,如果是研究生畢業(yè)已婚,則應寫明。
b. job/career objective(應聘職位)。
c. education(學歷):就讀學校及系科的名稱、學位、始止時間和應聘職位相關的課程與成績、社會實踐、課外活動、獎勵等都應一一列出。
d. special skill(特別技能)。
e. hobbies/interests(業(yè)余愛好)。如果在學歷項目的課外活動中已經(jīng)注明,此項則不必重復。
(2)以經(jīng)歷為主的簡歷 chronological resume
以這種形式出現(xiàn)的英語簡歷,往往側重于工作經(jīng)歷,把同應聘職位有關的經(jīng)歷和業(yè)績按時間順序書寫出來,把工作經(jīng)歷放在學歷之前。經(jīng)歷和學歷的時間順序均是由近至遠。
毫無疑問,這種形式的英語簡歷適合于有工作經(jīng)驗的求職人員。
在chronological resume中,通常包括以下元素:
a. personal date(個人資料)。具體內容同以學歷為主的簡歷相同,不過,因為你參加工作多年,已進入結婚年齡,所以不管你是否結婚,都應注明婚姻狀況和兒女情況。
b. job/career objective(應聘職位)。
c. work experience(工作經(jīng)歷)。務必寫明自己在每個工作單位的職位、職責和業(yè)績以及工作起止時間。
d. education(學歷):因為你已工作多年,雇主重點考慮你的工作經(jīng)驗是否能勝任你所應聘的職位,所以學歷只是一個參考的因素,因而不必象以學歷為主的簡歷那樣寫得詳細,只需注明你就讀的校系名稱、始止時間和學位即可。
e. technical qualifications and special skills(技術資格和特別技能)。
f. scientific research achievements(科研成果)。
(3)以職能為主的簡歷 functional resume
這種形式的英語簡歷,也是突出工作經(jīng)歷,因而所含元素和以經(jīng)歷為主的簡歷相同。以經(jīng)歷為主的簡歷和以職能為主的簡歷的根本差別在于:以經(jīng)歷為主的簡歷是按時間順序來排列工作經(jīng)歷,而以職能為主的簡歷則按工作職能或性質來概括工作經(jīng)歷,并無時間上的連貫性,旨在強調某些特定的工作能力和適應程度。比方說,你曾經(jīng)在兩個不同的工作單位擔任相同的職務或負責相同的業(yè)務,便可歸納在一個項目之中。例如:
